If you decide to create your site with WordPress, you have two options when it comes to design.
Option 1: Use a free WordPress framework and child theme to design your website.
Option 2: Buy a premium framework and a child theme to design your site.
Here at YesOrYes.co, we decided to go with option 2.
My name is Emile Weyi, Founder of YesOrYes.co. In this resource, I’ll show you all the reasons why you need StudioPress for your WordPress website design.

Theme Framework or Parent Theme
A framework is a foundation WordPress theme that acts as a platform on which your WordPress website can be created.
See your theme framework as the foundation of your house.
Typically, it contains the core codes you don’t want to mess with. Genesis from StudioPress is an example of a framework.
Genesis integrates all of the SEO, security, and performance features needed to help you have the best website possible. Examples of other frameworks include:
For an in depth comparison, see this post from our friends at Colorlib.
A child theme is a supplementary layer of code that sits on top of the framework.
In this case, it is the walls, roofing, painting and, interior décor of your house.
There are hundreds if not thousands of free and paid themes available. Check out the official WordPress Directory.
On YesOrYes.co however, Smart Passive Income Pro (a child theme from StudioPress sits on Genesis).
Habitually, a child theme consists mainly of the design elements of your website.
Later in this post, we’ll talk about all the available child themes you can get from StudioPress.

1. With Genesis, you can modify your website without foregoing speed
YesOrYes.co was a year old in Oct. 2017. I can’t count how many times we’ve customized YesOrYes.co thanks to the robust Genesis framework.
Unlike other frameworks, we don’t have to worry about sacrificing performance for options.
You know, nothing slows down a site like bloated code. That’s why the community behind Genesis is obsessed about making Genesis cleaner and more lightweight.
Today, even in Cameroon web page load times are usually discussed in seconds, but page load times for sites built on Genesis can often be measured and discussed in milliseconds. This can be the difference between you and your competition.
When it comes to customization, for every possible thing you’d want to do with Genesis, there is an available and easy-to-understand guide. This is why we love Genesis.
2. Genesis comes with additional Custom Widgets & Layout Options
Because the Genesis Framework has been widgetized beyond just the sidebar, developers at StudioPress have added some custom widgets for you to use on any area of your site.
Here’s a list of the custom widgets available with the Genesis Framework:
- User Profile
- Featured Posts
- Featured Page
Another great feature is that you can “mix and match” your layout. This means you can choose, via a radio button, any of the 6 layouts for each one of your individual pages or posts.
Here is a list of layouts that come by default on the Genesis Framework:
- Full Width Content
- Sidebar / Content
- Content / Sidebar
- Sidebar / Sidebar / Content
- Content / Sidebar / Sidebar
- Sidebar / Content / Sidebar
3. All Genesis Frameworks & Child Themes are Responsive
Even here in Cameroon, you can be sure that the majority of people visiting your site will probably use mobile.
This is a major problem for any business with a website that is not responsive.
However, if you want a responsive, futuristic, sleek, professional website design here in Cameroon without sacrificing a white cock, then Genesis is what you need.
Genesis in fact is built for the future of web design – HTML5.
How will HTML5 enhance your site?
First, it’s the new code standard. HTML5 makes your site compatible with future changes to the web.
Secondly, it will ensure cross-browser compatibility across devices.
Also, HTML5 makes your site mobile-friendly by being responsive.
It also improves your site’s ability to deliver audio and video. So, if you intend to podcast or video blog, Genesis is the solution.
Moreover, Genesis is completely extensible. Do you want your site to behave like an app? Go for it.
Simply put, HTML5 is your site’s ticket to a truly state-of-the-art design of the future.
4. Genesis is built on State-Of-The-Art, Airtight Security
The downside of WordPress is that it is open-source.
It can be vulnerable to bad guys who want to take your site down or exploit it for malicious reasons.
That’s why on YesOrYes.co, we decided to add an extra layer of security with Genesis.
Believe me. Having your site hacked is an expensive, time-consuming hassle — and it can really damage your reputation.
That’s why StudioPress brought in security expert and core WordPress developer Mark Jaquith. He made sure the Genesis Framework has the best security possible.
For this reason, Genesis is highly respected in the market.
5. Genesis was built to be loved by Search Engines
In three months, YesOrYes.co was able to secure a position on the first page of Google Search for searches like: “Digital Marketing in Cameroon.”
I’m happy we used Genesis.
If you understand what I mean, you’ll know where I’m coming from.
You know, when you put a lot of time in your content, you don’t want design to sabotage your SEO efforts.
Instead, you want everything to help you rank well in the search engines so readers, customers, and clients can find you.
With expertise of Greg Boser, search engine optimization pioneer and industry expert, Genesis gives you an added advantage with its clean, optimized code + smart design architecture.
In addition, Genesis now supports Schema.org code.
Schema allows you to output microdata in your site’s code. This enhances your site’s search engine optimization even further.
6. With Genesis, update your site automatically
Something as simple as failing to update your site can cause serious problems.
And site owners don’t update because sometimes it can feel pretty complicated. Not with Genesis.
With just a click, allow Genesis on your site to update while you’re asleep.
You know, many WordPress users have spent hours or even days fixing a problem created by updating.
Spare yourself the hassle. Choose the Genesis for a strong WordPress foundation.
7. Genesis support plugins which we use on YesOrYes.co
As you’ll imagine, generally speaking, French content sells more in Cameroon than English content.
While this may seem like a disadvantage for the English website/blog, I think it is an advantage.
Translating your site helps rather than kill your marketing efforts.
Your business will reach more people with a second language. On the technical side, translation increases your organic traffic and blesses your SEO.
So, don’t make the mistake of picking a parent theme that does not support plugins you’ll need for your website.
Genesis again in this aspect has greatly helped our content marketing powers here at YesOrYes.co.
8. Buy Genesis and get unlimited everything
With a one-time purchase, you get unlimited support, unlimited updates, and unlimited websites
That’s to say you’ll not need to buy Genesis a second time.Even for your next website. If you’ve got multiple websites (or client projects), Genesis offers unparalleled value.
And when you want answers to questions about your site, you want them now.
That’s why StudioPress gives you lifetime access to their world-class support team and community forum.Their team consists of product experts who provide solutions and help to their 201,000+ members. What framework will you recommend? Tell us in the comment section below.
